Water Medication & Dosage

Start with the instructions

Use the exact product label and veterinary directions. This tool supplies no drug, dose, treatment duration or withdrawal period. Enter active-ingredient quantities, not a dose stated as grams or mL of product.

Body-weight dose

Total active ingredient (mg/day) = bird count × mean weight (kg) × dose (mg/kg/day). For mg/lb/day use body weight in pounds. Product amount = required active ingredient ÷ active strength per product unit.

Water-concentration dose

For an entered mg active/L target, total active = target concentration × final water litres. Water volume describes water delivered to the birds, not a stock solution. US gallon = 3.785411784 litres.

Strength conversion

Units example only: if the required total active ingredient is 1,000 mg and the product contains 100 mg/mL, the required product quantity is 10 mL. A powder at 20% w/w contains 200 mg/g; a liquid at 20% w/v contains 200 mg/mL. % v/v and products labeled in activity units are not supported. This is not a recommended treatment.

Verify before use

For a body-weight daily dose, enter the volume expected to be consumed during that same day. Outputs describe final drinking water, not a concentrated stock solution or injector setting. Actual intake can vary; verify suitability, solubility, stability, compatibility, restrictions and withdrawal requirements with the label and veterinarian.
