Feed Cost per kg / lb Gain

Compare the feed cost of the same live-weight gain under two feeding scenarios.

Gain basis: birds sold × (final weight − starting weight). Use FCR defined as feed used ÷ this weight gain. Do not enter FCR on final live weight from the existing FCR Economics calculator.

Prices use the selected currency. No exchange-rate conversion is applied.

Feed-cost saving: A − B

$98.4

A negative saving means scenario B costs more.

Total gain of birds sold24,600 kg
Scenario A$0.6600 / kg
Scenario B$0.6560 / kg

Total feed used may include feed charged to birds that died and charged wastage. This is an economic gain measure for birds sold, not a mortality-corrected research FCR. Both scenarios hold bird count and weights fixed; other production costs are excluded.

Calculation basis & example

Example: 10,000 birds, 0.04 → 2.50 kg. Total gain = 24,600 kg. At FCR 1.65 and 400 per metric tonne, feed used = 40,590 kg and feed cost = 16,236: 0.6600 per kg gain. Scenario B at FCR 1.60 and 410 per tonne costs 0.6560 per kg gain; the flock saving is 98.4 in the selected currency. Hypothetical example, not an efficacy claim.
